One October, some kids in the U.S. learned about people with no homes. The
kids wanted to help them very much. They talked to their teacher about
helping.
有一年的十月，美國幾位兒童得知有人無家可歸，就問老師怎麼幫助這些人。 

The teacher didn't know what to tell them. So he talked to a local shelter.
That's where people with no homes stay for a short time. The shelter said it
needed socks!
老師不知道怎麼回答，所以詢問當地的遊民收容所，收容所說他們需要襪子!

Winter was coming, and new socks help keep people warm. The kids were
excited! They made a project to get new socks. They named their project
Socktober!
冬天快到了，襪子可以讓遊民覺得溫暖。這些小孩很興奮，成立了一個徵求新襪子的計畫，叫做襪子十月。

People from their town gave socks. The project got a lot of them. Everyone
was surprised!
這個計畫收到非常多的襪子，讓大家很驚喜!

People like Socktober. Many started their own projects. Now, Socktober is
worldwide!
人們很喜歡襪子十月計畫，許多人開始在不同地方做同樣的事。現在襪子十月計畫全球都有!

Socktober helps people learn about their local shelters. Shelters need socks.
And maybe they need blankets, soap, or other things.
襪子十月也讓人們更了解收容所的需求，除了襪子，可能也需要毛毯，肥皂之類。

Do you want to help? Ask your local shelter what it needs. Ask friends and
family about giving these things. Then take everything to the shelter!
你也想幫忙嗎?你可以問問當地的收容所他們需要什麼，請家人朋友捐贈這些東西給收容所!

Socktober is a great project to help people! We can show them that we care!

We make a lot of food waste! All the world's food waste in one day can make one billion meals! Wow! 我們每天製造很多廚餘，全世界一天的廚餘量相當於一億份餐點 ! We throw away a lot of food. When it goes to  landfills , it makes gases that make the Earth hotter. 廚餘被丟到垃圾掩埋場，會產生溫室氣體，讓地球的溫度升高。 But in South Korea, people don't throw away food waste. The country recycles 98 percent of it. That's five million tons of food recycled every year! 但是在南韓，人們不會把食物丟掉，這個國家回收百分之  98  的廚餘，一年回收  500 萬噸的食物 ! Families pay to recycle their food waste. They pay about 200 Taiwan dollars a month. The Pasta'ay Festival Is About Something Serious   2024.11.14 語音檔連結 The Saisiyat are one of the Indigenous Taiwanese Peoples. Long ago, there were many Saisiyat people. Today, there are around six thousand Saisiyat in Taiwan. 賽夏族是台灣的原住民族，原本人口很多的他們，現在只有大約 6 千人。 But the Saisiyat have saved their traditions.
