Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth. Every year, many people climb
it. But they leave a lot of trash. It makes the mountain dirty and dangerous.
聖母峰是世界最高峰，每年都有很多人去攀登，但是他們留下很多垃圾，讓聖母峰變得又髒又危險。

Sherpas show climbers where to go. Sherpas also carry trash down Mount
Everest.
當地的雪巴人會幫登山客帶路，也會把垃圾帶下山。

That's an avalanche! This can make a lot of ice, dirt, and rocks go down the
mountain very fast. It can kill people! Carrying trash down the mountain is
very dangerous!
雪崩很可怕，如果崩塌，會帶著很多冰、泥沙跟石頭，快速往下衝，把人活埋，在這種時候帶著垃圾走下山非常危險!

Now there's a safer way to clean up Mount Everest! Flying robots called
drones will take trash from the mountain. Sherpas are learning how to use the
drones.
現在有個更安全的方法，雪巴人正在學習用無人機，把垃圾帶下山。

These drones are strong. They can carry a lot of trash. One drone can carry
234 kilograms in one hour! Fourteen people can carry this much in six hours!
這些無人機很強壯，一台無人機可以在一個小時內，把 234 公斤的垃圾搬下山!
如果是人的話，總共要 14 個人、花 6 個小時才能搬這麼多!

Now Mount Everest can stay beautiful and clean. It will be safer for everyone
who climbs it!

1. drone 無人機。
Is that a bird? 那是鳥嗎?
Let me see.我來看看。No, it's a drone! 不是，是無人機。
Somebody is flying a drone up there! 有人在上面操縱無人機!

2. mountain 山。
You know what? 你知道嗎?
I think the drone is checking the mountain road.
我覺得那架無人機是在檢查那條山路。
What for? 為什麼呢?
To see if the road is blocked by fallen rocks. 看看路有沒有被落石擋住。

3. rock 石頭。
That's very smart. 那很聰明呢。
Yeah, many rocks must have fallen in the heavy rain yesterday.
昨天下大雨，一定有很多落石。

4. clean up 清理。
So what happens if it does find rocks? 要是真的發現石頭呢?
Then workers will go and clean them up. 那就會有工人去把它們清掉。

    Many people climb Mount Everest and leave a lot of trash every year. Sherpas show climbers and also carry trash down Mount Everest. Now there's a safer way to clean up Mount Everest! Using drones can help to carry trash. Sherpas are learning how to use the drones to carry a lot of trash. I'm glad to know that Mount Everest can stay beautiful and clean.

The Pasta'ay Festival Is About Something Serious   2024.11.14 語音檔連結 The Saisiyat are one of the Indigenous Taiwanese Peoples. Long ago, there were many Saisiyat people. Today, there are around six thousand Saisiyat in Taiwan. 賽夏族是台灣的原住民族，原本人口很多的他們，現在只有大約 6 千人。 But the Saisiyat have saved their traditions.
