Formosan black bears are Taiwan's bear. They have a white "V" on their
chests. We see cute Formosan black bear toys and pictures everywhere. But
there are few real bears. There are only 200 to 600 of them.
台灣黑熊的胸前有白色的 V
字形，非常可愛。我們常看到牠們的照片或玩具，但真正的台灣黑熊非常少，只有 200
到 600 隻。

These bears are an umbrella species. Umbrella species help keep other wild
animals living in the same place safe. So these bears are very important.
台灣黑熊是保護傘動物，意思就是保護牠們的同時，也能保護其它和牠生活相關的野生動物，所以台灣黑熊很重要。

Taiwan wants to know where the bears are. It gives people money for taking
pictures of them.
政府想知道這些黑熊住在哪裡，所以會付錢給拍到黑熊照片的人。

This summer, the Oponoho Indigenous community filmed a Formosan black bear.
It was the first time one was seen in Kaohsiung this year. Taiwan gave the
Oponoho fifty thousand dollars!
今年夏天，高雄的 Oponoho
原住民部落拍到了黑熊，這是今年第一次在高雄看到台灣黑熊，這個部落獲得五萬元!

The Oponoho community helps keep the bear safe. It watches the bear's home
with cameras. It looks for bear traps, hunters, and other things that can
hurt bears.

部落協助保護黑熊的安全，他們用攝影機觀看黑熊的家，並且尋找獵人，捕熊夾、或其他可能傷害黑熊的東西。

Taiwan wants more people to help keep Formosan black bears and other wild
animals safe. They keep our environment healthy!

We make a lot of food waste! All the world's food waste in one day can make one billion meals! Wow! 我們每天製造很多廚餘，全世界一天的廚餘量相當於一億份餐點 ! We throw away a lot of food. The Pasta'ay Festival Is About Something Serious   2024.11.14 語音檔連結 The Saisiyat are one of the Indigenous Taiwanese Peoples. Long ago, there were many Saisiyat people. Today, there are around six thousand Saisiyat in Taiwan. 賽夏族是台灣的原住民族，原本人口很多的他們，現在只有大約 6 千人。 But the Saisiyat have saved their traditions.
